3D Digital Design and Applications

Practical Applications of 3D Software

Cantonese

Face-to-Face

45 Hours

Start date: October 2022

Course Length: 45 hours

Location: InnoCentre, 72 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon, Hong Kong

*A professional certificate* will be awarded by Krystal Institute upon completion of the course

Students will use Blender, a powerful open source software, to learn 3D creative media production including 3D modeling, texturing, UV editing, character skeleton setting, video lighting simulation, and animation keyframe setting.

The course will teach the theory of 3D media production and the operation of Blender. From interface and common functions of Blender to model topology and character creation, students will learn the complete 3D animation production process and get started quickly through this course. Our courses are designed to be delivered in a close teacher-student interactive form with instructor demonstrating 3D media production cases and teacher assistants assisting students’ hands on experiences right on the spot.

Each case study is accompanied by an assignment for students to complete on their own to allow students' knowledge to be assessed after class. By the end of the course, each student/group should be able to produce basic 3D character design and simple 3D animation sets independently.

What you will learn

  1. Blender: a powerful 3D software with professional application prospects and functions

  2. Learn to make simple 3D character models which can be used for production of games and animation

  3. Learn to create 3D models using sculpting tools

  4. 3D modeling with a focus on solid models, mainly for illustrations

Course Description

  1. A multifunctional and free open source 3D software

  2. The course guides students throughout the design process, starting from initial

  3. design to the final product, in order to prepare students for different application

  4. scenarios, including making video games, models that can be used for 3D printing, and scenery illustrations.

Making low polygon

computer game character models

The final goal is to build a game world. We will begin with using simple geometric shapes to make different characters.

In addition to the basic characters, game-related items such as objects, buildings, terrain and backgrounds are all modeled in a simple way, making it easier for students to master the prodcution workflow. From modelling, coloring, motion processing to rendering, every step is desgined to fit together with the subsequent game production and generation.

BLENDER TRIAL
Seminar

The first step into the 3D world" Blender Modeling and Animation Production Seminar

Krystal Institute and Nang Yan College are jointly organizing a series of DECT career courses, focusing on professional techniques, practical tips and spiritual insights, so that those who are new to the field can find the know-how to take their professional skills to the next level.

At present, commonly-used 3D software in the market are either too simplistic, or paid. If you want a sufficiently functional and free software, Blender is the best choice.

In this seminar, we will introduce several areas of application for Blender, mainly through practical demonstrations. First of all, we will show and introduce the process of making Low-Polygon models, which are mainly used in game production. Another featured project is to use the sculpting function for making figurine models. Together with 3D Printing technology, the ultimate goal is to make your own figurines or model accessories.

Quota:30 participants Length:1.25 hours

Language︰Activities, sharing and Q&A sessions will be conducted in

Cantonese Fee:Free

Course Contents:

Analyze and compare commonly-used 3D graphics software in the industry Introduce the functions of Blender, the 3D graphics software

Blender 3D modeling demonstration:
